Multi-year Program Support

Founded in 1978, Center for Women and Their Work in Austin, Texas, is steadfast in its mission to support women artists, a commitment that is as relevant now as it was nearly forty years ago. The organization provides substantial financial and technical resources to visual and performing artists with an emphasis on those in Texas, producing more than fifty events annually. As one of the longest running alternative spaces in the region, Women and Their Work plays a critical role in bringing attention to local artists, while fostering exchange and collaborations with international artists and institutions. In addition to group exhibitions, public programming, and educational efforts, the organization offers six artists per year the opportunity to create new work through its New Commissioning Project.

“We strive to support institutions that share our artist-centered values. The small grassroots arts organizations as well as the museums that comprise our grantees provide invaluable opportunities for artists to express their unique perspectives on the pressing urgencies of the day. We hope that our grants help to amplify artists’ voices within their communities, in national discussions and debates, and across platforms in the international contemporary art world.”
